Description

We are searching for a proactive and results-oriented Technical Sales Representative to join our team in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). In this pivotal role, you will not only surpass revenue targets but also contribute to our clients’ success by strategically promoting welding, cutting, and thermal spray products. Reporting directly to the Business Development Manager, this position, based in Vaughan, Ontario, demands extensive travel throughout the GTA.

Responsibilities:

  • Sales Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive sales plans through in-depth market analysis.
  • Product Expertise: Sell welding machines, accessories, filler materials, and consumables to end-users, showcasing technical proficiency in welding and cutting processes and knowledge of steel, aluminum, hardfacing, cast iron, titanium, stainless steel, etc.
  • Opportunity Identification: Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities within the target market.
  • Client-Centric Approach: Understand client needs and provide proactive recommendations for products and services tailored to metallurgical requirements.
  • Presentation and Negotiation: Develop compelling presentations, proposals, and quotations. Actively participate in tradeshows. Possess a “Hunter” and “Closer” mindset for effective negotiation and closure of sales.
  • Technical Knowledge: Demonstrate expertise in welding machine sizes, cable, MIG guns, TIG torches, consumables, accessories, abrasives, safety gear (gloves, jackets), plasma cutting, oxy-fuel torches, and parts.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education: College Diploma in Welding or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent work experience in the welding industry.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of progressive outside sales experience preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Relationship Building: Proven background in building and maintaining solid client relationships.
  • Technical Proficiency: In-depth technical knowledge of welding and cutting processes, materials, and related equipment. Familiarity with welding machine sizes, cables, MIG guns, TIG torches, consumables, accessories, abrasives, safety gear (gloves, jackets), plasma cutting, oxy-fuel torches, and parts is essential.
  • Sales Management: Experience in responding to RFQs, developing customer quotations, and setting annual sales metrics and targets.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and CRM software.
  • Mobility: Own vehicle and a valid driver’s license are necessary. Willingness to travel and flexibility with working hours.

Additional Responsibilities: The Technical Sales Representative will manage all incoming leads and requests, assess customer needs, and provide appropriate solutions. They will collaborate closely with customers to understand requirements such as target price, quantities, and expected lead time. After a comprehensive inquiry, the Technical Sales Representative will submit a quote with an expiry date for customer review. A sale will be considered “won” when the quoted product, price, quantity, and lead time are accepted. Conversely, a sale will be considered “lost” when the customer rejects the proposal. In both cases, the representative will gather insights to enhance future sales strategies.
This is a full-time, contract position. Interested candidates should submit their cover letter and resume via email. Please note that only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
