Position Overview
The Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) is a unique role that combines sales experience with technical expertise to support maximizing revenue growth for the Clysar business. The TSS primary responsibility is to support distribution with technical sales guidance and support. The TSS will work collaboratively with Strategic Account Sales Managers and Technical Service Representatives through the distributor to drive revenue growth for the Clysar business.
Technical Sales Specialist: Proficient at the following duties, and requires only occasional management support and supervision to be successful.

Essential Job Functions

• Proficiently articulate a sales value proposition to Clysar distribution and end use customers.
• Provide technical support – including but not limited to line by line training, conversion and start-up, ongoing technical assistance.
• Support new applications including “mock-up” packages – converting other packaging materials and packages into packages containing Clysar shrink film.
• Communicate effectively throughout the Clysar organization to ensure business continuity and support of the national distribution team members.
• Work cooperatively with the Strategic Account Sales Managers and Technical Service Representatives to jointly cover all needs of the Clysar business.
• Work cooperatively with Clysar Quality and Operations personnel to drive to root cause and resolution on any quality complaints or issues - including detailed documentation.
• Implement, lead and document training materials and programs for Clysar films and overall packaging systems related to the proper set-up and operating window for Clysar films.
• Participate with R&D, Marketing and Sales Teams in support of field trials of new developmental Clysar films.
• Establish and maintain effective relations with customers, sales personnel and internal Clysar staff personnel.
• Develop and submit detailed technical service call reports for all training and support activities executed at Clysar end users.
• Provide quarterly Territory summary reports with key learnings, training, and action items including follow-up responsibilities.
• Create and execute strategic accounts and business partners plans that meets the objectives for sales and profit
• Meet regularly with existing distribution and key customers to understand their evolving needs and position Clysar solutions to meet those needs.
• Build long term, productive and mutually beneficial relationships with distribution and existing and new end users.

Requirements
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

1. Knowledge

• Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and technical information relating to polyolefin shrink films and associated packaging equipment.
• Willingness to work long and unusual hours, including weekends, in emergency situations and travel an average of three to four days per week.
• Strong technical, troubleshooting, and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Holds relevant travel documentation for airline travel which may include a passport and / or work visa.
• Base understanding of other packaging elements – chipboard, foam, corrugated – is preferred to support packaging design activities.

The above skills may be acquired from:

• 5-10 years of successful technical service experience to packaging equipment and/or flexible materials and/or 5 years of successful sales experience in shrink packaging solutions and/or
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, packaging, or industrial engineering or equivalent educational experience and/or Technical trade journals, publications and seminars.
