ABOUT THE ROLE:

PURPOSE

The Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) represents the first line of technical and application training for dealers and commercial end users. Responsibilities include working with Territory Managers to identify dealers and end users in need of hands-on, in-the-field trainings. This includes working with end users who use non-STIHL products. TSS’s are also responsible for supporting National Accounts. This position is an outside sales position; the essential functions of this job will be completed remotely.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Visit strategic commercial and municipal accounts with a focus on increasing sales of STIHL equipment by offering training, feature & benefit comparisons and product demonstrations.
  • Identify and prospect new commercial and municipal accounts who presently carry competitive products with the goal of converting them to STIHL customers.
  • Develop, implement, demonstrate and evaluate product training programs and initiate contact with actual and potential customers to include but not limited to landscapers, loggers, golf courses, contractors, arborists and municipalities.
  • Call on and visit National Accounts at an appropriate frequency for safety and product training, new product introductions, troubleshooting and demonstration support.
  • Attend and support STIHL and various regional trade shows, training events (i.e., STIHL U) and dealer events to promote STIHL, our products and services.
  • Maintain reporting (updating CRM, monthly field reports, field input in regards to competitor and product performance/quality issues, expense reports, email).
  • Support territory managers and merchandising team with new dealer set up, product and service training.
  • Attend sales meetings, dealer training meetings and other required meetings and training.
  • Ability to use fine and gross motor skills to understand, operate and maneuver gas and battery outdoor powered equipment to include chain saws, trimmers, blowers and other equipment as necessary.
