What to Expect
The Mechanical Engineer Intern plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations, maintenance, and optimization of critical mechanical systems within the Giga Factory, including Compressed Air, Chilled Water, Heating Water, Cooling Towers, HVAC, Tank Farm, and Evaporators. The intern is responsible for managing the operations and maintenance of one or more systems, developing detailed work instructions and processes to ensure compliance with specifications. Additionally, they contribute to improving system efficiency and reliability by leading energy-saving initiatives and reliability projects, all while ensuring adherence to environmental, health, and safety standards.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist the operations team in operating and maintaining the systems listed above.
  • Manage small reliability and energy-saving projects.
  • Support the development of work instructions and spare parts strategies.
  • Contribute to defining the team’s maintenance strategy.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving system issues.
  • Coordinate projects within the team and between departments.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken. Bonus can also speak fluent German.
  • Currently studying or experienced in a relevant field such as Mechanical Engineering.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following systems: Compressed Air, Chilled Water, Heating Water, Cooling Towers, HVAC, Tank Farm, or Evaporators.
  • Skilled in using common MS Office applications.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve problems in a structured manner.
  • Problem-solving orientation with an analytical mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently in an organized manner.
