SUMMARY:

Ensures quality and safety of food products by auditing, coordinating, and analyzing plant processes. This position has an active role in all programs related to GMP and Food Safety audits.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCES:

Ø Requires knowledge acquired through a pertinent bachelor’s degree in food science or its equivalent in experience.
Ø Two to three years of work-related experience in the plant.
Ø Ability to maintain confidential information.
Ø Knowledge of basic lab procedures as well as Knouse Foods lab procedures and chemicals
Ø Knowledge of GMP’s and micro testing and procedures.
Ø Knowledge of the SQF code and FDA regulations
Ø FSMA training
Ø HACCP training
Ø Better Process Control training
Ø Knowledge of office procedures, methods and computers including spreadsheet applications.
Ø Ability to write reports and correspondence.
Ø Ability to communicate in English and understand information one-on-one and in small groups. Ability to communicate with staff members, management, and other departments.
Ø Ability to stand while preparing reagents.
Ø Ability to work under pressure of constant deadlines.
Ø Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is conducted in both office, plant, and laboratory environments. Requires visiting and walking through plants and driving locally
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATION: HACCP, SQF Practitioner and FMSA PCQI certifications. Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license that is not under suspension or revocation, and possess current automobile insurance coverage.

1. Coordinates HACCP and FSMA plans by working with the plant QA Managers to ensure all HACCP and FSMA plans are accurate and current.

• Ensures that HACCP, FSMA, SQF, and all Food Safety and GMP programs are being adhered to at the plants.
• Schedules SQF and other third-party audits.
• Conducts or coordinates and documents in-house audits at all plants
• Assumes the role of Technical Representative by accompanying outside auditors during third party audits. These audits include but are not limited to SQF, FDA and customer audits.
• Works with Customer Service to keep customer databases current with audits, certificates, etc.
• Assist with training of QA Managers, Supervisors and technicians, particularly related to food safety and audits.
• Assist with QA documentation or projects, as assigned.
• Travel to all plants for all applicable duties as noted above.
