Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will serve as a crucial liaison between departments, investigate claims, influence quality outcomes, and help us drive continuous improvement across our steel operations.

EDUCATION:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Science
  • Preferred: Mechanical Engineering or Applied Science degree, ideally with a background in Metallurgy.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Required: 1 year of engineering experience (internship/co-op experience considered)

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Strong understanding of steel products
  • Strong critical thinking and statistical analysis skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel and data reporting abilities
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across departments
  • Solid understanding of material standards and quality systems (ISO 9001)
  • Customer-facing communication experience preferred
Responsibilities
  • Customer & Vendor Claims Resolution: Investigate and resolve quality complaints using industry-standard practices while minimizing financial loss and maximizing customer satisfaction.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Identify process gaps, recommend corrective actions, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts using tools like 5-Whys, 8D, and Six Sigma.
  • Internal Collaboration: Work closely with quality, operations, finance, and sales to ensure effective communication, issue containment, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Standards & Compliance: Support ISO 9001 quality standards and environmental procedures; perform inspections and product disposition.
  • Technical Expertise: Act as a subject matter expert on steel and aluminum products and processes; support product development and customer inquiries.
  • Health & Safety: Comply with all safety regulations and actively contribute to a safe and healthy work environment.
