Description

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in the design and development of electromechanical products involving mechanical and electrical integration with premium cosmetic standards for an in-cabin user experience.
  • Strong background in defining display electrical and optical characteristics, conducting focus group evaluations, and driving user experience discussions in an automotive setting.
  • Proficiency in integrating mechanical, electrical, and software elements of products into vehicle architecture, with solid first-principles knowledge of optics, mechanics, electronics, and materials.
  • Technical expertise in display technologies such as Edge-Lit LCD, Local Dimming LCD, and OLED, as well as TFT backplanes (LTPS or Oxide).
  • Ability to define display specifications including resolution (PPI), LED pitch, luminance, color uniformity, gamut, and chromaticity.
  • Knowledge of display electrical and communication systems: device transmittals, SerDes (FPD-LINK), timing controllers, LEDs/LED drivers, SPI/I²C, and touch controllers.
  • Familiarity with display component selection and integration, connector selection, wiring harnesses, power requirements, PCB components, and layouts.
  • Experience defining performance requirements (resolution, accuracy, noise, durability, etc.) and preparing validation plans.
  • Practical knowledge of display panel fabrication, assembly processes, SMT, and PCB manufacturing in a mass production environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Optomechanical, or Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Design and develop the electrical and optical characteristics of advanced automotive displays.
  • Seamlessly integrate world-class display optics and electronics with vehicle electrical architecture, UI/UX graphics, and infotainment requirements.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of display optics and electronics from concept through production.
  • Define product requirements and specifications, and develop test plans, procedures, and validation criteria to ensure robustness and quality.
  • Design and manufacture prototypes and fixtures to support measurements, experiments, and user studies for various types of displays.
  • Release designs and specifications to suppliers, initiate tooling, checking fixtures, assembly fixtures, and end-of-line testers to meet project milestones.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—design studio, UI/UX, quality, interiors, and software—to ensure both suppliers and internal teams meet product requirements.
  • Manage supplier relationships and engineering services to develop display solutions that meet high standards of customer satisfaction and align with the company’s design identity.
  • Support mass production ramp-up, troubleshoot and resolve optical/electrical issues, and drive cost-reduction efforts for display electronics.
  • Monitor program timing and milestones to ensure projects meet vehicle program requirements.
  • Establish robust display manufacturing processes and assembly lines using technical expertise and industry knowledge.
