About the Role
As a Technical Specialist – Network Capacity & Solutions, you will act as a key technical advisor, responsible for both ensuring optimal capacity and performance of Vocus’ core and access networks, as well as consulting on end-to-end solutions for our top tier customers in Wholesale. This hybrid role balances technical analysis, forecasting, and infrastructure management with customer-facing solution design and pre-sales support. You’ll work closely with the Network Operations, Product, and Sales teams to provide detailed capacity planning, expert network insights, and scalable solution recommendations that enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
Applicants must hold current Australian citizenship status to meet governmental criteria for an NV1 Baseline Clearance application, which is essential for this role.
What you’ll be doing day-to-day

Network Capacity & Infrastructure Management

  • Produce and enhance regular and ad-hoc network capacity reports across IP, transmission, and voice platforms
  • Analyse traffic patterns and predict future capacity needs using data analytics and forecasting models
  • Ensure accurate network inventory through regular audits and reconciliations
  • Create, track, and manage orders to modify or install infrastructure based on current and forecasted needs
  • Investigate and resolve incidents potentially tied to capacity limitations
  • Align network investments with cost models and budget forecasts

Solution Consultation & Technical Pre-Sales

  • Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success teams to design and deliver end to-end networking solutions
  • Lead technical discussions with customers to identify needs and present scalable solutions
  • Advise on network design strategies involving SD-WAN, cloud, voice, and security services
  • Translate complex technical concepts into commercially viable solutions for stakeholders
  • Act as a technology thought leader across internal teams and with customers
  • Engage and educate partner communities and internal teams on new product capabilities and market innovations

What you’ll bring to this role

  • Experience in network capacity planning, telecommunications, or network engineering
  • Experience in customer-facing roles such as pre-sales, solutions consulting, or architecture
  • Strong analytical mindset with proven experience in data interpretation and forecasting
  • Experience with common network planning and reporting tools (e.g., Netflow, SNMP, OSS platforms)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively across functions
  • Customer-focused and commercially aware
