Technical Specialist - Tier 2 (Media Management) The Opportunity: We are seeking a highly motivated Technical Specialist – Tier 2 (Media Management) to join our Technical Support team. This individual will specialize in the "plumbing" of data protection—handling advanced troubleshooting of storage, media agents, libraries, and data movement workflows. This role is critical in analyzing performance, resolving data path issues, and ensuring hardware integration works seamlessly. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in storage arrays, networking, and deduplication technologies. You will work with cross-functional teams to assess storage risks, prioritize hardware remediations, and enhance the organization’s overall data reliability. What you’ll do… Handle advanced troubleshooting of Media Agent workflows, storage targets, and data movement. Analyze and resolve issues related to SAN, NAS, NFS, SMB, and storage arrays. Manage and troubleshoot configurations for tape libraries, VTL, and cloud storage integration. Perform performance analysis and data path troubleshooting to optimize backup speeds and reliability. Investigate Media Agent crashes and deep dive into deduplication and Auxcopy workflows. Collaborate with hardware vendors (NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE, Pure) to resolve integration issues. Analyze multipathing (MPIO) and networking issues affecting data transport. Provide mentorship and technical guidance on storage best practices to internal teams. Who you are? 8+ years of experience in storage/backup media support or administration. Strong experience in Media Agent workflows and data path troubleshooting. Deep understanding of SAN, NAS, NFS, SMB, and enterprise storage arrays. Knowledge of tape libraries, VTL, and cloud storage mechanisms. Strong networking fundamentals and performance analysis skills. Basic understanding of Deduplication, Compression, Indexing, and Auxcopy. Familiarity with major storage vendors (NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE, Pure) and multipathing tools is a plus. Experience with Linux/Windows administration as it pertains to storage mounting and management.
