Description:
HOW YOU CAN MAKE YOUR MARK
Make your mark as technical superintendent (TSI) within the Fleet Management department at Boskalis. The department provides technical support and the main focus is to keep the fleet in shipshape. This position requires you to be flexible and ready to address issues directly on-site, anywhere in the world, sometimes with little notice. Meaning that you could start your day at the Papendrecht office and that you are needed somewhere on a project in the afternoon. You don’t mind to travel on the spot!
We are looking for new colleagues to strengthen our seabed fleet team team. In this role you will specifically work with our new subsea rock installation vessel, the Windpiper. In addition to the general responsibilities as noted below, a few vessel (Windpiper) specific tasks can be mentioned:
You will:
- Be one of the connecting links between the vessel crew, the Fleet Development Department (CFS) and the Seabed Intervention Fleet Team.
- Take up a role in the conversion team.
- Ensure the implementation of the new SMMS Planned Maintenance System on board.
- Assist with adapting the Fleet Management system to this vessel.
- Be responsible for drafting maintenance schedules for the vessel equipment, together with the crew and including these in SMMS.
- Assist the crew with equipping the vessel with necessary spare parts and outfitting.
Your general responsibilities as Technical Superintendent:
- Analyze and optimize the performance of the vessels in close cooperation with the crew on board.
- Report technical and operational performance and provide input to optimize the ships.
- Support with acute technical problems on board.
- Ensure that the scope of planned ship repairs is up to date (ongoing repairs, damage and modifications).
- Follow up the exploitation of the assigned vessels, taking into account the correct allocation of costs.
- Implementing and monitoring the general technical and safety standards and reporting on possible improvements to ensure the safety of our colleagues and the locality.
YOUR QUALITIES
In the role of technical superintendent, it is essential to have the ability to work in a planned and independent way. You must have an eye for detail but you should certainly never lose sight of the bigger picture. On the basis of your extensive technical expertise and enthusiasm for high-end technical solutions, you can convince colleagues and stakeholders, and extend their knowledge.
Furthermore you need to have the following to make your mark as Technical Superintendent:
- A higher vocational education (hbo) or post-secondary vocational education (mbo) degree in mechanical engineering, or similar qualification.
- At least five years experience as a technical superintendent, inspector or chief engineer.
- Technical and operational project knowledge:
Experience with DP systems is a plus.
Experience with the offshore and dredging industry is a plus.
- Knowledge of or interest in the subsea rock installation process and related equipment.
- No problem travelling globally, also on short notice.
- A familiarity with health & safety regulations relating to our business as well as fleet maintenance systems such as SMMS.
- A good command of written and spoken English.
For the Windpiper, we are looking for a candidate who can commit him or herself for at least 3 years to the team and the vessel, 1 year assisting with conversion and 2 years supporting the vessel during normal rock installation operations.
The vessel conversion will most probably be carried out in Asia or Europe, the first 2 years of operation are expected to be in Europe. As an estimate, during the first 2 years, you can count on spending approx. 50% of your time abroad or on board, the 3rd year will require less traveling.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and optimize the performance of the vessels in close cooperation with the crew on board.
- Report technical and operational performance and provide input to optimize the ships.
- Support with acute technical problems on board.
- Ensure that the scope of planned ship repairs is up to date (ongoing repairs, damage and modifications).
- Follow up the exploitation of the assigned vessels, taking into account the correct allocation of costs.
- Implementing and monitoring the general technical and safety standards and reporting on possible improvements to ensure the safety of our colleagues and the locality
