Responsibilities

THE ROLE

To lead and support a team of maintenance technicians with dedicated focus on troubleshooting, calibrations/adjustments and preventive measures in the area of electrical and control systems in automated straddle carriers used for container handling. To oversee maintenance operations, ensure high equipment availability, and drive continuous improvement in reliability and safety.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise day-to-day maintenance activities focused on electrical and control systems for straddle carriers and related container handling equipment.
  • Lead and mentor a team of electricians and diagnostic specialists to troubleshoot, repair, and optimise systems including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, wiring, and power distribution.
  • Develop and implement need based improvements in preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Coordinate with operations, planning, and engineering teams to minimize equipment downtime and ensure service reliability.
  • Analyse equipment failures, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and initiate corrective actions.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Review and initiate updates of technical documentation, schematics and maintenance procedures.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and upgrades of new systems or modifications to existing equipment.
  • Advise on needed inventory levels and spare parts related to electrical and automation systems.
  • Evaluate technician performance, provide training, and foster a culture of technical excellence.
