Michael William Recruitment is proud to be partnering with and supporting a fantastic company based in Sunderland thats has a fantastic working and team culture, who are also a T1 supplier to one of the region’s biggest manufacturers - Nissan. We are seeking a highly motivated Technical Supervisor for an immediate start.

JOB OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a dedicated Technical Supervisor to join our team in Sunderland, reporting directly to the Maintenance & Facilities Manager. This position requires someone who thrives under pressure and consistently meets deadlines while upholding high quality standards.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrable experience, preferably in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing setting.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems for effective planning and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • A collaborative team player with the ability to support management effectively.
  • Adaptable and flexible in approach.
  • Proficient in IT applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of IATF 16949:2016 standards.
  • HNC/HND in Engineering or equivalent qualifications.
  • Familiarity with key quality tools such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules, assigning tasks to team members.
  • Oversee the installation, calibration, and upkeep of company machinery.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols through regular risk assessments.
  • Manage both reactive and planned maintenance for electrical, mechanical, and robotic systems.
  • Support installation and enhancement projects effectively.
  • Provide technical assistance to team members as needed.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for repair and maintenance services.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with external vendors to coordinate their work.
  • Work closely with production management to optimize operations.
  • Collaborate with various departments to promptly identify and address issues.
  • Suggest improvements to techniques, processes, and safety measures.
  • Supervise all maintenance activities, both proactive and reactive.
  • Lead fault diagnosis and resolution for plant equipment.
  • Participate in design reviews, 8D, OEE, and production meetings as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with COSHH and all health and safety regulations in engineering processes and procedures.
  • Foster improvements in team skills, health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Maintain 5S principles in all job aspects.
  • Represent the company positively and professionally at all times.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures diligently.
  • Adhere to the Company Health and Safety Policy consistently.
  • Comply with IATF standards and procedures.
  • Ensure the training and development needs of the team are met.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and assist in departmental reporting.
  • Undertake any additional reasonable tasks as requested by the Maintenance & Facilities Manager.

ROLE-SPECIFIC SKILLS:

  • Leadership capabilities to effectively manage the maintenance team and external suppliers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
