  • The role: Technical Support Engineer – Linux Hosting Environment
  • Location: Near to Preston, Lancashire
  • Salary: £31,000 basic + benefits
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, either 9am–5pm or 4pm–12am (to be discussed)

I’m hiring an experienced Technical Support Engineer to join a long-established web hosting and cloud services provider. This is a permanent role with training delivered onsite near to Preston, Lancashire, after which the role will be home-based, with occasional office days when needed. This is not an entry-level role; I’m looking for someone who’s confident working with Linux command line environments and has a solid understanding of web hosting infrastructure and customer support.

Responsibilities
  • Provide Level 1 & 2 technical support to clients via helpdesk and phone
  • Troubleshoot issues with web hosting services, DNS, SSL, email, etc.
  • Analyse server logs and alerts from internal monitoring systems
  • Guide clients on how to manage tasks themselves where appropriate
  • Update and maintain knowledge base and support documentation
  • Support with tasks such as account migrations and backups
  • Handle abuse tickets and support with basic application-level troubleshooting
