About the Faculty of Engineering and IT The Faculty of Engineering and IT (FEIT) is large and complex with six schools, research centres, engineering laboratories, IT laboratories and a large technical workshop. In 2018, UTS Tech Lab came online; it is a university research facility encompassing significant engineering and IT laboratories, which will establish FEIT as a key research leader. UTS Tech Lab enables the research outputs of FEIT to continue to grow and offer our research leaders a greater opportunity to collaborate with peers across disciplines, schools and faculties as well as industry partners. About the Role The primary purpose of the Technical Support Manager, Data, Electrical and Physical Sciences (DEPS) is to synthesise information from internal and external sources, while relating technical expertise, to develop business cases and program manage the delivery of complex high value internal or external projects within a Technical Resources. The Technical Support Manager will advise and prepare proposals for the Faculty Director Technical Resources on the strategic development of the technical facilities as well as preparing and managing procurement and submissions for capital equipment within their technical remit. This role will be based in the Data, Electrical and Physical Sciences (DEPS) cluster. With examples, please outline in a separate document how you meet the following four (4) key selection criteria points:• The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong technical background, showcasing the ability to synthesise information from various sources to develop effective solutions, and which includes examples of managing and delivering complex technical projects.• Candidates should have a demonstrated capability to advise on and prepare proposals for the development of technical facilities and equipment, including managing procurement processes effectively. They should also be able to demonstrate their understanding of budget management and compliance with university policies and procedures.• Candidates must have demonstrated experience in providing leadership to technical support teams that service teaching and research, ensuring cohesive operational direction and a high-quality support service. A core part being demonstrated evidence of capability building and developing career progression opportunities for past teams.• Candidates should be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, at all levels. Examples should demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences and a history of building strong working relationships.
