Field Operations protect people and the environment by maintaining and operating our flood and coastal risk management assets and responding to incidents. Job Description We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated Technical Support Officer to join the Field Operations Team at our principal depot in Sale, Manchester. You will provide essential operational support to enable the delivery of planning and technical expertise to our Field Team Leaders and the wider team. As a Technical Support Officer, you will support the team in, but not exhaustive of: * Working along side our Principal Depot Liaison Officer (PDLO) in the depot to ensure asset compliance and data control

  • Management and organisation of calendars and rotas
  • Procurement and purchase order support.
  • Processing orders of PPE and equipment whilst keeping an accurate stock inventory.
  • Maintenance and processing of personnel data

  • Arranging accommodation and transport for meetings and training sessions. * Compilation of relevant information for social media and team briefs. * General administrative duties.
    Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role on a 24 hour call out rota and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training will be provided.
    The team
    Our diverse team are based at our Principal depot in Sale, Manchester. We are responsible for the delivery of routine maintenance programmes on rivers and watercourses in the Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire areas in the North West of England. We respond to environmental incidents, such as flooding and pollution, both day and night. We also work across the country when required to assist with flood and environmental impact response.
    Experience/skills required
    “Essential: You should demonstrate the ability to deliver results and resolve problems quickly
    Good organisational skills and a proven ability to work under pressure is essential. Understand site health and safety requirements. Strong people skills and the ability to motivate and engage others, be comfortable with managing external suppliers Understanding of IT, including smart phones/tablets and MS applications.
    Willing to learn our in-house systems.

You will demonstrate a good level of understanding or experience in all or some of the following:

  • Health, Safety & Wellbeing awareness
  • Strong prioritisation skills and self-motivation to ensure tasks are achieved.
  • Contribute to the development of best practice in terms of continuous improvement relating to storage of records and use of data systems.
  • The ideal candidate will be a self sufficient person who has a methodical approach to work and planning. Friendly, helpful, and willing to work with others.

This role includes taking part in a duty roster which attracts additional payments. Due to the nature of this role and incident response duties, the ideal candidate will live locally or within an easy commute.
