Description:

Position Type: Full Time
Schedule 14x14, 12 hour shifts
Technical Support is responsible for assisting with the development and management of projects, budgets, plans and schedules relating to mechanical, electrical and welding assignments. The position ensures field and shop activities involving maintenance, repair and fabrication of mining equipment are conducted in a safe, efficient and economical manner. A key responsibility is to evaluate projects according to the plan. Responsibilities include assisting tradespeople in repair procedures and techniques when problems are encountered.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Project Support

  • Follow Up Factory Campaigns
  • Assists in developing project plans, priorities, budgets and schedules ensuring full compliance with applicable regulations, guidelines and procedures.
  • Oversees field and shop operations. Coordinates improvements through mechanical supervision.
  • Takes corrective action to improve job results by consulting with the project supervisor and General Foreman.
  • Coordinates sublet work though other trades and shops.
  • Supports branch safety programs.
  • Continuously looking for improvements for the customer

Customer Service

  • Serves customers by providing information and resolving technical problems.
  • Acts as the liaison between SMS Equipment, Komatsu and the customer.
  • Resolves problems by asking questions and clarifying customer’s concerns; determining the cause of the problem; explaining the best solution; making the correction or adjustment; and following up to ensure resolution
  • Attend monthly JoiFUL meetings, daily mine meetings as required, quarterly meeting support
  • Leads task force committees on product issues

Reporting

  • Prepares customer reports as required
  • Documents and communicates observations of customer equipment
  • Prepares reports (i.e. Field Service Reports) as required
  • Completes daily reports (i.e. Equipment Down or update)

Other Duties

  • Assists with special projects as assigned.
  • Attend weekly branch meetings
  • Support warranty process as required

Training

  • Stay current with available technical information
  • Provide technical training for industry-specific needs, KA, updates
  • Provides technical support to insure the success of both the preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Facility and equipment maintenance, repairs, experimental setups and improvement modifications.

Reviews equipment preventative, vibration and oil analysis programs as appropriate to maximize benefit.
Qualifications:

The successful candidate will either be a certified Heavy Equipment Technician or possess an Engineering degree. Mechanical/electrical experience and or reliability in the heavy equipment industry is preferred.

  • Technical knowledge of maintenance, repair, and fabrication of heavy equipment and experience with 980’s is an asset.
  • Knowledge of OH&S regulations and equipment inspection
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills is required.

  • Fournir de l’aider pour les projets spéciaux selon les directivesCompétences:Le(la) candidat(e) choisi(e) possède au moins trois (3) années d’expérience en réparation, maintenance et usinage en l’équipement lourd. Une combinaison équivalent de formation et d’expérience sera considérée. Les autres exigences comprennent, entre autres:
  • Possède de préférence une certification de compagnon dans un métier connexe ou une expérience en ingénierie
  • Connaissance technique de la maintenacet, de la réparation et l’usinage en équipement lourd• Connaissances de la réglementation en Santé sécurité et en inspection d’équipement représentent des atouts • Excellentes aptitudes en communication et sens de l’organisation
  • Aptitudes interpersonnelles exemplaires incluant la capacité d’influencer et de rallier les autres
  • Permis de conduire valide et moyen de transport fiable
