MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

In order to be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following:

  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • Two years of post-secondary education in a computer science related field and one year of computer support related experience OR Two years of post-secondary education in a computer science related field and a County internship OR five years of progressively related computer support experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office ApplicationsÂ
  • Ability to comply with Bureau of Criminal Apprehension’s criminal history-related security requirements

Preferred Experience Beyond Minimum Qualifications: Â

  • Experience with Information Technology Service Desk software (i.e., Ivanti Service Manager).
  • Experience with virus/malware software (i.e., Trend, Defender, etc.).
  • Experience with IT Service Desk documentation and reporting tools and desktop imaging and hardware maintenance.
  • Previous experience in an IT Service Desk support position.
  • Customer Service training and experience.

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Advanced skills and experience in the Microsoft Windows/Microsoft Office environment.
  2. Knowledge of PC-based LAN/WAN topologies and Microsoft Windows 10 operating systems, especially in a Microsoft Windows Network.
  3. Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint technology.
  4. Ability to perform complex personal computer troubleshooting, both software and hardware problems.
  5. Ability to work independently and in a team with minimum supervision.
  6. Ability to problem-solve and document processes and solutions.
  7. Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

Digital Services Assignment:
1. Participates in the design, development, configuration and formation of software services and applications on internal and external environments to automate processes and meets business needs.
2. Administers and supports County social media accounts to provide effective and current information and communication with citizens.
3. Performs ongoing maintenance tasks including researching and implementing approved updates and modifications to web forms, workflows, applications, and databases to maintain optimum functionality.
4. Assists with testing, debugging, and resolving issues with new and existing applications so users receive useful and effective products.
Technology Services Assignment:
1. Provides PowerShell scripting to assist in the automation and deployment of software and operating systems through System Center.
2. Creates and provides instruction on the usage of technology for end users.
3. Troubleshoots using diagnostic techniques and investigative research to resolve issues in a timely and consistent manner.
4. Documents/records events, problems, and issues accurately within the call logging system.
5. Maintains inventory databases for hardware and software.
6. Performs setup, installation and maintenance of software, end user devices including computers, cell phones, tablets, printers, and peripherals to provide functional and reliable systems.
Both Assignments:
1. Provides end users with technical support via phone, email, remote software or in-person to resolve end user issues and meet their needs.
2. Documents application design, structure and development steps, testing procedures and operational instructions.
3. Keeps current on new and relevant technologies and makes recommendations for users of software, hardware and communications systems and tools.
4. Prepares status updates and reports on assigned projects.
5. Attends training and education to maintain professional competence.
6. Attends work in a regular and timely manner.
7. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
