DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience working in an AEW&C technical publications team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience and potential in the development of technical publications within a system specialty (mechanical/airframe/engines/GSS) desirable
  • Experience in the development of technical publications for all levels of operations and maintenance for a new or fielded major equipment system desirable
  • 737NG experience desirable
  • S1000D experience desirable
  • XML or SGML experience desirable
  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements
  • With the right attitude and communication skills, specific experience may not be necessary
Responsibilities

Technical writer responsibilities will include:

  • Development and review of critical and routine technical publication revision tasks for AEW&C customers
  • Working closely with AEW&C Technical Writers, SME’s, Coordinators and Execution Leads to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks to achieve project revision deliveries.
  • Conducting quality and in process reviews and validation of technical publications.
  • Providing training and mentoring to Technical Writers, including new starters, in all facets of technical writing processes and the Wedgetail Program.
  • Clearly communicating information and ideas between the Technical Writers and the SME’s, Coordinators and Execution Leads.
  • Having advanced knowledge regarding, and supporting adherence to, technical publication project standards and specifications.
  • Taking corrective action (with support of Coordinators) to address technical writing issues where necessary.
