Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and responsibility. Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience
  • Proven ability to author and maintain technical content such as SOPs, user documentation, system overviews, or API references
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, SAFe) and supporting cross-functional delivery teams
  • Familiarity with documentation tolls such as Confluence
  • Ability to gather information through stakeholder interviews, legacy documentation, and hands-on testing
  • Understanding of software development lifecycles, DevSecOps, or system integration concepts
  • Comfortable managing multiple documentation streams and shifting priorities in a dynamic, client-facing environment
  • Strong editorial skills with a commitment to clarity, accuracy, and consistency
  • Effectively applies writing principles to project/ program requirements
  • Experience with design software such as Figma, Miro, Adobe or other tool
Responsibilities

In this role, you will serve as an individual contributor within a team; with the support and guidance of leadership, you will be responsible for supporting the goal of meeting scope, schedule and delivery requirements. You will begin to develop an awareness and understanding of how the technical writing discipline delivers upon program requirements, as well as interact with stakeholders. Primary expectations for a Technical Writer II include:

  • Collaborates with government partners and stakeholders, and users to support the design and research processes
  • Focused on program tactical assignments, but may support more strategic initiatives in support of meeting defined milestones
  • Interviews product developers, observes performance of production methods and refers to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals
  • Prepares illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts
  • Conducts quality review of materials
  • Translates complex data into user-friendly text for print and electronic publications, such as technical journals, user and training manuals, government proposals, websites and podcasts
  • Gathers information through research, statistical reports and interviews with technical staff
  • Develops cataloging systems, and maintains records, files, electronic media and archiving of information for publications
  • Assists in preparing material for technical seminars and business forums and may be called upon to assist in technical or business presentations
  • Supports the development of layouts, graphics, drawings, tables, exhibits, illustrations, charts, or storyboards to amplify or clarify publications objectives
  • Collaborates with a multi-disciplined team to facilitate discussions and articulate goals in order to deliver upon requirements
