Description OVERVIEW: The Technical Writer is responsible for documentation of business processes, development of production/company procedures, and maintenance of documents in the company’s EPDM system. JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: The Technical Writer is accountable for the following functions and responsibilities: Create new documents and/or revise existing documents in accordance with internal specifications, business processes, and project/system requirements while verifying accuracy and compliance to existing standards. Observe production, developmental, and experimental activities, internal and external, to determine operating procedure and detail and turn into written document. Facilitate SME input and review sessions with individuals or groups. Ability to merge business processes and production into single, step-by-step procedural guides. Adhere to document change control procedures/systems to ensure successful release of new or revised documents. Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. Review released documents and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, and content as needed. Ensure all document and system elements are assembled for review and approval. Ability to participate effectively in the evolution and documentation of Technical Writing standards. Provide training/guidance as needed. Ability to write in accordance with the standards and principles of the Gregg Reference Manual, most current edition. Ability to read existing documentation, interview business and team members, and study the target application in order to drive out documentation and supporting decision making. Ability to drive work to timely and high-quality completion while maintaining positive and effective relationships. Perform other functions and responsibilities as assigned. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: The Technical Writer must at a minimum possess the following: High school diploma or GED equivalent. An associate degree or higher in a Technical Writing discipline is preferred. Five plus years of experience in a Technical Writing role. Experience in document control is preferred. Excellent/advanced technical writing and oral communication skills Advanced skill level in the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically in Word and Excel. Advanced skill level in Adobe Pro software. Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy and ensure compliance with company and other applicable policies and procedures. Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced, high-pressured work environment. Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner, protecting the company’s value. Ability to speak, read, and write the English language fluently. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent organization and time management skills with attention to detail. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The Technical Writer must be able to: Operate basic office equipment, such as a keyboard, mouse, copier/printer/scanning machine. Wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment when required (i.e., safety glasses or side shields, steel-toe footwear, etc.). Stand for long periods of time; up to 8 hours a day when necessary. Sit for long periods of time; up to 8 hours a day.
