Description

We are seeking a versatile Technical Writer/Trainer to join our team in support of a project with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). You will be responsible for creating all end-user documentation and training materials, serving as the critical link that ensures users fully understand and adopt new systems and processes.
Must be able to commute into the office located in Rockville, MD 5 days a week.
Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
You will work closely with the Program Manager, Business Analyst, Software/Data Engineers, and Change Management Lead. The ideal candidate is an expert communicator who can translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and engaging content for a non-technical audience, all while adhering to strict government and healthcare compliance standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience: Proven experience as a Technical Writer and/or Corporate Trainer, preferably within a federal government or healthcare-related IT environment.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into simple, user-friendly language.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with standard documentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat) and experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or other e-learning platforms.
  • HIPAA Expertise: A clear understanding of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and its implications for user training and documentation.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative, and agile project environment.
  • Portfolio (a plus): A portfolio of writing and training samples.

Responsibilities
  • Technical Documentation: Develop, write, and maintain a full range of end-user documentation, including user manuals, help guides, release notes, and knowledge base articles.
  • Training Curriculum Development: Design and create engaging training materials and modules, including presentations, quick-reference guides, and interactive e-learning content.
  • Information Gathering: Collaborate directly with Software/Data Engineers, AI/ML Specialists, and the Business Analyst to gather information and ensure the accuracy and completeness of all documentation.
  • Training Delivery: Facilitate and deliver training sessions and workshops for various user groups, ensuring they are prepared for new system and process rollouts.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure all documentation and training content strictly adheres to HIPAA and federal security standards, particularly regarding the proper handling of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Content Management: Organize and manage all content within designated repositories and ensure documentation is updated as systems evolve.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Change Management Lead to align training and documentation with the overall adoption and communication strategy.
