    Position Summary
    The Center for Radiological Research is seeking a Technician to work with a group of scientists to study the efficacy of a novel drug treatment to mitigate radiation-induced gastrointestinal tract injury.
    Responsibilities
    Mechanistic studies will be performed to determine the mode of action of the drug using animal models and cell-based assays. The program is highly multidisciplinary, encompassing the fields of radiation biology, biochemistry, and immunology. We are looking for an enthusiastic team player with strong organizational skills, experience with basic laboratory techniques, and knowledge of biological sciences. Working under supervision and independently, he/she will assist in the design of experimental protocols and perform a variety of techniques, including radiation exposures of small animals, tissue collection, flow cytometry, and ELISA. He/she will implement assay protocols according to standard operating procedures that include setting up and carrying out fully planned experiments and keeping data records. The primary work location will be at the Center for Radiological Research at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center, NY.
    Minimum Qualifications
    Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or physics, or a completed animal husbandry program or equivalent in education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some laboratory experience is preferred, especially familiarity with biological assays and animal handling, although full training will be provided.
  • Knowledge of various related laboratory procedures and techniques preferred.
  • One year of related experience preferred.
