37 HOURS PER WEEK

Are you looking for an exciting culturally driven role where no two days are the same? Do you have a desire to work with some of the most significant art collections in the world?
By joining our team of technicians, you will be based in some of Birmingham’s most historic and stunning buildings, with internationally renowned collections, high footfall of visitors and a major tourist destination.
You will be primarily based at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery but also providing technical support at the historic properties within Birmingham Museums Trusts portfolio of sites.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working in creative, cultural environments, such as a museum or gallery and have a level of flexibility to work weekends and evenings when required. Applicants should be able to work at height, and also be competent with hand tools and other workshop-based activities, such as basic carpentry and materials handling.

Responsibilities not limited to but will include:

  • Exhibition fabrication and installation as required.
  • Audio-visual installation and lighting control and programming.
  • Transport and handling of accessioned objects.
  • Team working and collaborating across departments on complex projects.
  • Working safely and responsibly to achieve the end goal.
  • Formulating creative design solutions as the need arises.
