Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY
This role involves working within the Bridge Civil Structures team in Dublin or Cork or remotely from one of the Arup offices in Poland on various exciting projects. As an experienced Technician, you’ll continue to develop your technical skills and career. You’ll work closely with fellow Engineers and Technicians in Dublin/Cork and Limerick, enhancing Arup’s Bridge Civil Structures capabilities.
AS A BRIDGE CIVIL STRUCTURES TECHNICIAN AT ARUP, YOU WILL:
- Producing 3D models and drawings for all project stages.
- Creating BIM documentation and coordinating with various disciplines using Bentley or Autodesk BIM Solutions.
- Producing detailed drawings using MicroStation powered solutions or AutoCAD.
- Checking and ensuring accuracy and quality of outputs.
- Managing project time to meet deadlines.
- Creating project-related correspondence and reports.
- Contributing to best practices and processes via the Arup skills network.
- Participating in presentations and workshops.
- Seeking further development opportunities with provided guidance and feedback.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Technician with excellent technical and software skills who enjoys collaborating in multi-professional design teams. Your long-term goal will be to understand the engineering design process and explore various software capabilities to streamline our work delivery.
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- HNC/HND in Civil Engineering (Structures) or equivalent qualifications with obtained 3D modelling skills.
- Experience with CAD packages and 3D design packages (Bentley MicroStation and OpenBridge, Autodesk Revit).
- Proficiency in office software (Word, Excel) and previous experience working with information management solutions like ProjectWise.
- Ability to coach and develop junior technicians.
Desirable:
- Degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Understanding of bridges and civil structures, and their interaction with railways and roads specialists.
- Previous experience in reinforcement and steelwork detailing.
- Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.
