Job Description

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or equivalent tertiary qualification.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in general chemistry laboratories (can include relevant tertiary training).
  • Experience with chemical inventory systems.
  • Experience training others in equipment use and protocols.
  • Skills in troubleshooting standard laboratory equipment.

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Broad knowledge of laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
  • Strong understanding of chemical principles and modern lab management.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new techniques and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to meeting deadlines.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure facilities meet high standards of functionality and compliance
  • Assist in the delivery of induction training for lab users & contractors
  • Liaise with users to ensure safe storage or disposal of chemicals, equipment, and samples
  • Support facilities management by coordinating with service providers
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and performance
  • Assist with risk assessments and promote safe working practices
  • Ensure safe storage, use, and disposal of hazardous substances.
  • Conduct inspections and support compliance with containment guidelines.
    This is a full-time permanent role (37.5 hours per week)
    The remuneration is $62,400 – $73,379 per annum, dependent on skills and experience
