Job Description The Technician is responsible for meeting the production and quality goals of the team. The production goal for the Technician is completion of the log-in/pressurization of > 90% of the samples within the same day as the sample receipt. Other responsibilities include, unpacking sample boxes and reviewing and signing accompanying documentation. The Technician is expected to check the received canisters and equipment into the database inventory, label samples, and create project folders for the laboratory. Additionally, project and sample information is entered into the database. At each step in the process, the Technician is required to follow the relevant standard operating procedures. If an issue is encountered, they are expected to communicate with the appropriate staff such as the project Managers and the Receiving supervisor/lead. Other duties may be assigned. Receive and Log-in samples using company LIMS system Read, understand, and carry out Standard Operating procedures required by the method, Air Toxics methods, clients, or internal procedures Perform all documentation, sample preparation, standard preparation, and data handling following SOPs or methods Perform miscellaneous support functions for the departments as requested by management Provide timely support and response to the daily requests Communicate roadblocks in performing the assigned routine and non-routine tasks Other duties as assigned Qualifications Strong sense of initiative, detail oriented with a hands-on approach and the ability to work efficiently and accurately within a fast paced environment hands-on approach and the ability to prioritize and work efficiently in a fast paced environment Strong organization and time management skills in order to meet project deadlines Effective communication skills, both written and verbal Strong team working skills and the ability to conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner Regular attendance and punctuality Understanding of basic laboratory techniques Strong computer skills (MS Word and Excel) Ability to exercise independent judgment and effectively use resources to solve problems Able to perform the physical requirements of the job Able to work a full-time shift (M-F) during training; flexible to rotate weekends and overtime as necessary Demonstrates and promotes the company vision Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English Skills and Abilities Adherence to safety protocol and operation procedures; communicate well with coworkers and management; read, understand and comply with SOPs; ability to lift up to 35 pounds on a continuous basis, stand for prolonged periods; work upright, bend and use hands and arms repetitively to perform moderate physical work duties; the ability to push carts with objects on board weighing up to 50 pounds; hearing and speaking are needed to listen effectively and talk with individuals in person or on the phone. Hazardous Material Handling The Eurofins Air Toxics laboratory houses chemicals necessary for the analysis of various environmental samples. These chemicals can be harmful if not properly handled. The list includes but is not limited to; cryogenic Dewars of liquid nitrogen, compressed gasses including helium, nitrogen and hydrogen, sharps and liquid solvents such as methylene chloride, acetonitrile and acetone. This position requires the ability to safely handle and transport these bulk chemicals. The employee will be required to read and reference the Chemical Hygiene Plan and Injury and Illness Prevention Program for additional information and instruction. Additional Information Compensation: $18 - $20 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Position is full-time, Schedule To Be Determined, with flexibility to work overtime and weekends shifts as needed.
