About the Role Facilities Technicians are responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and presentable facility at each Bouldering Project. Facilities Technicians are an integral part of in-house management and maintenance of our built environment at the local facility level. These staff have a direct impact on the experience of every individual that walks through the door. From the first impression of the space to a lasting experience, these staff help to create a welcoming and healthy environment. What You’ll Do General Maintenance General handyperson tasks throughout the gym, including but not limited to: basic electrical, basic HVAC, basic plumbing, drywall/finishes, climbing wall repair, climbing pad repair, basic IT troubleshooting, and cleaning tasks. Curiosity about systems and a desire to learn are paramount to this role! Help with gym expansion projects as needed. Maintenance, storage, and staging of all gym tools and supplies. Uphold cleanliness and organization in all storage/work areas. Promote employee motivation, job satisfaction, and professionalism via dynamic interactions, positive feedback, and creative problem solving. Participate in regular meetings with the Facilities Manager/Facilities Coordinator. Customer Service Actively respond to customer needs, membership and event questions, inquiries, and feedback. Provide customers with product, membership, and event information as needed. Engage with customers, providing assistance with climbing, orientation, and facility offerings. Safety & Risk Management Work in a safe manner at all times. Comply with State and Federal safety regulations and BP Employee Safety Manual and guidelines. Retain familiarity with the Safety Manual and Emergency Action Plan, ensuring proper documentation of incidents via the incident report log. Administer first aid in accordance with Safety Manual and SBP Protocol. Maintain a safe environment throughout the gym. Employ proper PPE and ladder safety techniques. Demonstrate safe work practice across all scenarios, modeling a practice for all staff. Requirements What You'll Bring Flexible schedule including nights and weekends. Self-motivation and an ability to see tasks through to completion. Effective communication. Genuine desire to collaborate with others. Willingness to adhere to SBP policies and procedures. Ability to research maintenance issues and source parts independently, providing purchase lists for review and approval. Willingness to perform manual labor tasks and learn safe use of tools and techniques for maintenance and construction. Ability to lift 50lbs. Willingness and comfort on ladders up to 20' extension ladder heights. Enthusiasm about working in the rock climbing/outdoor business. 2+ years of construction and mechanical/electrical/plumbing/maintenance or comparable experience is preferred.
