Responsibilities

We are looking for a Technician – Hygiene to be a part of the health and safety team providing occupational hygiene support to the Bell Bay site.
This hands-on role will give you broad and practical experience, including in many areas of occupational hygiene unique to the aluminum smelting industry. Reporting to the Health and Safety Superintendent and working in a collaborative small team, you will work a weekday roster which accommodates sampling aligned with the continuous shift roster. Sampling work requires one to two extended workdays (13 hours) a week for our sample plan duration which is usually February to October. This requirement is offset with us offering flexibility and either reduced hours or reduced days of work on the other days of the week to accommodate.

You will be:

  • Scheduling and conducting the hygiene sampling program and potable water quality monitoring program’s
  • Contributing to and assisting in video exposure monitoring and task-based monitoring campaigns
  • Conducting sample preparation, analysis, dispatch and quality assurance
  • Maintaining hygiene and other Health and Safety data and records
  • Preparing and distributing hygiene and other Health and Safety performance reports
  • Maintaining relevant HSE registers and databases including the chemical approval system
  • Managing the communication of hygiene monitoring data in various formats as required, including feedback to individuals and teams
  • Troubleshooting, maintenance and calibration of monitoring instrumentation;
  • Contributing to and assisting in delivery of key Occupational Hygiene projects
