About the role
This is a 12 month fix terms contract opportunity.
We are seeking a dedicated Technician/Highways Inspector to join our network team initially on a 12 month fix term contract working on the A30/A35 DBFO Maintenance contract in Rockbeare, Exeter.
This is a dynamic role where you’ll be responsible for a range of tasks, including conducting network inspections, supervising maintenance and subcontractor works, and supporting the operations team with road space bookings and works instructions. You will also play a key role in winter maintenance, including on-call decision-making for gritting activities.
What you’ll be doing

Responsibilities

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Conduct network inspections to identify defects.
Create work orders based on identified works and defects.
Assist with the maintenance of the defect database.
Contribute to the production of the works programme.
Liaise with the public and third parties as required.
Perform network safety inspections.
Undertake routine and specialist surveys, including lighting patrols.
Supervise works undertaken by the workforce and subcontractors.
Assist with producing road traffic orders (TTRO/ETTRO).
Conduct site audits and field inspections.
Be part of the out-of-hours Duty Officer rota for Winter Maintenance and Emergency Response.
Coordinate with National Highways and Local Authorities.
Manage road space and network occupancy requirements.
Assist in the management of abnormal loads, if applicable.
Help with the production of Carbon Calculator and Environmental KPIs.
