As a Technician II, Production Technical Operations (LS1), you will be responsible for operating automated manufacturing and packaging equipment to produce, package, and sterilize contact lenses in accordance with established procedures. You will play a vital role in ensuring that all products meet the required quality standards, while adhering to GMP, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), Data Integrity, and other applicable regulatory requirements. In this role, a typical day will include: Ensure contact lenses are manufactured to the highest quality standards in accordance with cGMP and regulatory requirements. Perform all production activities within a controlled cleanroom environment, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Data Integrity (ALCOA principles — Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneous, Original, Accurate) and HSE standards. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional team members to meet daily production targets, yield, equipment performance and uptime goals for assigned lines or equipment. Conduct In-Process Checks (IPC) such as Visual Lens Inspection and Operator Packaging Checks to ensure product quality throughout the manufacturing process. Schedule and coordinate the sterilization of contact lenses within a 12-hour window to maintain product integrity. Perform simple machine setups, including ink changes and support equipment maintenance activities. Troubleshoot and resolve basic equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency. Uphold 5S housekeeping standards on the production floor to ensure a clean, organized and efficient work environment. Actively participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes, equipment performance, and product quality. Perform GxP cleaning activities and handle production waste disposal in compliance with regulatory and environmental guidelines. WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON: NITEC in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or other equivalent engineering disciplines. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in production operations, GMP/GDP-regulated manufacturing, or related industries. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP). Experience working in a cleanroom environment is an advantage. Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. Willingness to work on rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
