We’re recruiting for an experienced person to join our technical team at the University for the Creative Arts’ Farnham campus.
The position is for a Technician in Creative Technology. Your main duty consists of providing technical support in the exciting field of Computer Science and Creative Computing. The role primarily focuses on assisting students in utilising virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) technology, associated software, and creative coding to develop immersive virtual environments and experiences.
The successful applicant will have experience and expertise in creative coding and physical computing with tools including Proessing, p5.js, and Arduino. They should have good knowledge of languages like Java, JavaScript, and C. Knowledge of Adobe CC, including Photoshop and other programming language would also be desirable.
Your knowledge in both physical and virtual environments will allow you to compile learning materials, deliver technical demonstrations in VR/AR technology, along with associated software & creative coding to students.
As well as software delivery, your skills in maintaining equipment and peripherals including headsets, sensors, controllers, and workstations etc will be called on to ensure learning environment is conducive for students to create amazing work.
You will contribute to the care and maintenance of the studios as well and be responsible for the health and safety in your area of competence.
You will also have excellent communication skills, be a good team worker and be able to demonstrate an aptitude for dealing tactfully with students and staff. The ability to work under pressure is essential.
