Description Technician Journey Level, Power Generation Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL Department: Service Operations Reports To: Service Leader Work Type: Full Time, Non Exempt Travel: Local billable travel in company service truck Direct Reports: None Compensation: $35 to $53 per hour (based on experience) Bonus: Sign On Bonus up to $2,000 Relocation: Up to $5,000 Role Overview The Technician Journey Level, Power Generation Systems supports our Fort Lauderdale service operations with hands-on expertise in diesel power generation and electrical troubleshooting work. This role operates with Foreman-level technical responsibilities without direct reports and is ideal for an experienced field technician who can mentor less experienced technicians and with independence, precision, and strong customer focus. You will perform diagnostics, repairs, and performance testing on a range of diesel and gaseous generator systems and electrical equipment. Local billable travel in a company service truck is required, along with periodic overtime based on customer or operational demands. Key Responsibilities Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on diesel and gaseous generator systems Troubleshoot AC and DC electrical systems from 110V to 600V, including transfer switches and switchgear Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults using test equipment, meters, and OEM software Conduct load bank testing and performance verification procedures Complete accurate service documentation, parts usage, and recommendations Travel locally to customer sites and support emergency service needs when required Ensure compliance with all MSHS safety, environmental, and procedural standards Required Qualifications 3 or more years of experience in power generation, diesel engines, propulsion systems, or field electrical troubleshooting Proficiency with AC and DC electrical systems, generator repair, and electrical diagnostics Ability to work independently in a field environment with minimal supervision Strong problem solving, diagnostic, and customer communication skills Valid driver's license and insurable under company policy Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds and working indoors or outdoors in varied conditions Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or evenings based on business needs Desired Skills Certificate or degree in Diesel Technology, Power Generation, or Electrical Systems, or equivalent experience Training or graduation from a vocational or technical institute for power generation, automotive, electrical or diesel technology Minimum three years’ experience with multiple makes of Standby Emergency Generators and control systems EGSA, ASE, NCCER, or similar industry certifications Experience in critical power applications, or military environments Why Join MSHS Pacific Power Group MSHS Pacific Power Group is a trusted leader in power generation, propulsion, and industrial service across marine, defense, and energy sectors.
