The Technician performs all warranty and non-warranty inspection, diagnostic, maintenance and repair work, and oversees apprentice employees, assigned to him or her. The Technician may also be responsible for installing accessories and performing new vehicle pre-delivery inspections and prep work. The Technician is required to maintain a current knowledge of Infiniti vehicles and their service needs as described in manuals, technical bulletins, and training programs.

QUALIFICATIONS: AT A MINIMUM, THE TECHNICIAN SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have held a valid driver’s license for at least 1 year
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to be considered
  • Prior shop experience is required
  • Prior dealership experience is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle electronic components, theory, systems, and testing tools and procedures
  • Skill in diagnosing and repairing all key vehicle systems and components
  • Knowledge of the proper procedures for handling hazardous materials
  • Knowledge of the proper procedures for using tools and equipment
  • Knowledge of the proper procedures for ensuring the Technicians own safety, the safety of his or her co-workers, and the safety of customers and their vehicles
  • Basic writing skills (to record work performed and recommended future service requirements on R.O.s)
  • Ability to read and interpret R.O.s
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds

Performance Standards: In addition to personal goals established during annual performance reviews, this employees performance will be evaluated against the following performance standards:

  • Keeping work area neat, clean and organized

Responsibilities
  • Fixing vehicles right the first time
  • Test driving vehicles, if necessary, to verify customer complaints
  • Diagnosing vehicle problems based on customer complaints
  • Advising the Service Advisor if additional work is needed, or if work recommended is unnecessary
  • Staying up to date on all Infiniti technical bulletins
  • Participating in Infiniti sponsored training and programs
  • Using ASIST and TECH LINE for assistance with difficult repairs
  • Ensuring that the vehicle is left as clean, or cleaner, that when it arrived for service
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor or Service
  • Director, such as performing quality control on designated vehicles
