Overview The Technician, Materials Management performs general materials management functions in support of Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline’s work sites. The Technician I position handles basic assignments while receiving direction from the supervisor and teammates. This includes receiving, inspection, storage, handling, shipping, expediting, and preparing of products for delivery while maintaining the warehouse in a safe and orderly manner. This position communicates daily with Southern Star office personnel, field personnel, and external suppliers to resolve material related deficiencies and ensure customer satisfaction. This position uses financial systems and maintain electronic and paper files and records. Responsibilities Primary responsibilities include (but not limited to): Master Data Management Providing material master data setup, validations, and periodic maintenance Ensuring data quality, compliance, and consistency of material master data across business systems Working with business units and process experts to resolve master data issues Warehousing Ensure warehouse facility is free of any unsafe working conditions Receive, store, and issue equipment, materials, and supplies Check delivered items against purchase orders and invoices for accuracy and relevancy Ensure security of stored goods and supplies Assist in planning schedules for material deliveries Assist purchasing as requested in contacting vendors regarding variances toward quantity, quality and delivery of materials, receipts for delivery of goods and ensuring accuracy in delivery Examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, and appropriately report/record any discrepancies Accurately place materials on shelves, in racks, or other designated storage areas in an orderly manner and in accordance with approved storage and preservation requirements Enter data into computer programs as required Assist warehouse personnel in solving problems regarding identification of merchandise Assemble and fill orders to be shipped to customers Prepare all shipping documentation Review all orders to determine if they were picked correctly Coordinate the transportation and delivery of materials and services to Company work sites to ensure on-time delivery for effective and efficient operations Ensure warehouse/equipment is maintained on a regular basis Operate forklifts safely and efficiently, follow all OSHA safety regulations, and perform vehicle safety checks Physical Inventory Perform annual inventory of all stores Accurately identify and count stock materials as listed on the cycle count list Identify and fix inventory count variances General Maintain daily communication with office, field personnel, and external suppliers to identify needs and ensure customer satisfaction Use financial systems and maintain electronic and paper files and records per the Company’s Business Records Retention and Destruction Policy Ensure the adherence to Company and departmental policies and procedures Ensure overall efficient and timely flow of service Actively support intradepartmental teams to improve processes, product specifications, and to achieve Company initiatives Other duties as assigned Qualifications Minimum High School diploma or GED 0-3 years of related experience Entry-level experience in an industrial warehouse in receiving, inspecting, storage, handling, and issuing materials, equipment, supplies, including operation of material handling equipment Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with others Advanced experience in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) or related software Preferred Technical degree or certification Supply Chain, Energy, or Utility experience Experience with Oracle and Power BI or other cloud-based ERP systems and analytical tools Forklift certification/license Other Responsibilities Ability to move and lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted Ability to perform in varying working conditions both inside the warehouse and outside in the storage yard Ability to climb ladders, as needed Specific vision abilities required by this job, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus Ability to spend 80% of time standing, walking, lifting, pulling, and pushing Ability to travel (less than 10% on average) by car and/or plane
