Overview This entry-level position is accountable, under close technical supervisory guidance, for basic level installation, monitoring, and preventive maintenance of gas measurement, regulating, and related auxiliary equipment and facilities in a designated area of a natural gas pipeline system. Measurement technicians will report to and is directly accountable to the Leader, Measurement Services and will internally interface with all levels of operations personnel and accept assigned responsibilities while also being on-call for emergencies. Technicians will perform technically at a satisfactory level while maintaining positive and ethical relationships with others including customers, consultants, and vendors. This position receives guidance from senior technicians, leaders, and technical specialists. The individual will be required to maintain and operate their assigned area in strict compliance with the Company’s O&M Manual, and state and federal regulatory codes. Responsibilities Primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Install, Test, Repair, Troubleshoot, Recommend & Maintenance Maintain and verify natural gas chromatographs and moisture analyzers Maintain Custody and non-custody meters (orifice, rotary, turbine, ultrasonic, PD) Review gas measurement data for accuracy and completeness Configure EFM equipment, including Auto Pilot Pro and Control Microsystem flow computers Maintain natural gas analyzers (moisture, dew point, H2S, gas detection and CO2) Utilize portable analyzers and Drager tubes Obtain gas or liquid samples for analysis of components Configure, size and/or program pneumatic and electronic controls (meter gap controllers, pressure and differential transmitters, PLCs, and transducers) Maintain pressure regulators and relief valves Perform installation, repair, troubleshooting, and modification of measurement equipment and related piping with supervision Assist technicians in troubleshooting and repair of equipment used by or associated with natural gas measurement and regulation Possess knowledge of electronic equipment, and calibration instruments Possess knowledge of fundamentals of natural gas metering and regulating principles Calibration, Troubleshoot, Size and Repair Perform basic configurations on EFM and AMR meters Maintain pressure and differential transmitters Maintain custody and non-custody meters (e.g., orifice, USM, rotary, PD) Maintain Gas Chromatographs and Analyzers for natural gas Maintain Electronic and Pneumatic Control Equipment (e.g., 4195, DVC, Barton, Becker, Positioners, PLCs) Compliance Complete required documentation and paperwork in timely manner Schedule and track maintenance and calibration activities with measurement software Ensure compliance to applicable company policies and procedures, maintenance manuals, safety policies and procedures and federal, state, and local regulations Identify and report safety and environmental concerns Maintain settings to company standards Advanced Analysis Skills Review, update, and modify blueprints, schematics, control drawings, and pipeline maps Possess knowledge of components of safety, system reliability, and operations Possess knowledge of gas components and aspects of natural gas measurement Possess knowledge of measurement applications associated with position Training & Collaboration Assist technicians and technical specialists with more complex tasks, training, and projects Learn technical aspects of gas measurement and regulation Assist operations personnel with construction activities & non-technical tasks Complete required Operator Qualifications in measurement activities Ability to understand equipment manufacturers literature and technical papers Perform other duties as assigned by supervision Qualifications Minimum: Relevant Associate’s degree (e.g., electronics, instrumentation, mechanic, engineering, computer science) or equivalent work experience Entry-level experience Ability to meet proficiency requirements in the SSCGP Operator Qualification Program Strong verbal and written communication skills Experience leading a team Strong problem-solving skills Ability to work independently Ability to assess information and make sound judgments Skilled in Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
