Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technician to join a research team investigating molecular mechanisms of cell polarity in the laboratory of Professor David Strutt.
Applicants should have a background relevant to biochemistry, cell and/or developmental biology and be passionate about experimental science. The main responsibilities will be to work with other members of the team to carry our biochemical and proteomic analysis of tissue samples generated from the fruit-fly Drosophila. Techniques used will include Drosophila husbandry, microdissection, immunoblotting and immunoprecipitation. There may also be the opportunity to perform immunolabelling, fluorescent (confocal) microscopy/image analysis and molecular biology. Where needed, appropriate training will be provided.
The successful applicant should enjoy working in a team and have excellent experimental skills including the ability to carry our concentrated fine work such as microdissection. This is an excellent opportunity to gain increased laboratory experience and to be part of a leading research team.
