This full-time position is an evening shift with a flexible start between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday - Friday with Saturday rotation.
What is Anatomic Pathology? Anatomic pathology is the study of organs and tissues to determine the causes and effects of particular diseases.
What is Histology? Simply said, body parts. The more technical explanation: Histology is the study of tissues - groups of cells working together to do the same thing. Knowing what normal human tissue looks like and how it normally works is important for recognizing and treating different diseases.
Ever had a friend or family member have a biopsy? If so, you probably understand the importance of making sure that the medical specimen is prepared correctly so that the physician can diagnose their condition.
So how is this position involved in the diagnosis? This position is a critical part of patient care. Position examines and macroscopically describes human tissue (biopsies) derived from out-patient surgical procedures. Accurately, places tissue into cassettes and processes the tissue using approved protocols.
What’s required? Minimum qualifications are bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical or biological science that includes: a combination of 30 semester hours of biology and chemistry (at least 6 hours in chemistry and 6 hours of biology).
