JOB SUMMARY

As a Waste Management Technician for our Maintenance team located at the Laval site, you will ensure any hazardous material is discarded according to all relevant rules and policies. Train and coach employees to protect them from dangers related to hazardous materials commonly used at work.

In this role, primary responsibilities include:

  • Ensure compliance as well as appropriate safety conditions of the hazardous waste storage room.
  • Inspect regularly the hazardous waste storage room to ensure the different types of dangerous products are properly separated (acid, basic, flammable, oxidizer, reducer, organic waste, radioactive, reactive, etc.).
  • Recover all hazardous waste containers from all internal departments.
  • Ensure the identification of the different waste containers is compliant.
  • Coordinate the recovery of hazardous waste and organic material with the different suppliers.
  • Clean up any spill that occurred during the operations.
  • Collect the different water samples for analysis

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for the following minimum qualifications for this role:

  • High school diploma with a degree in science (chemistry/biology).
  • Good knowledge of WHMIS 2015.
  • Team player with a collaborative and positive approach.
  • Must be fluent in French and English.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
Responsibilities

ROLE SPECIFIC INFORMATION:

  • Location: 445 Boul. Armand-Frappier, Laval, QC, H7V 4B3;
  • Transportation: Free parking. Near the Montmorency Subway. Electric vehicle charging station.
  • Salary: $24/hrs.
  • Schedule: Monday 6:00 - 14:15 and Tuesday to Friday 7:00-15:15
  • Permanent position as of the hiring, full-time 37.5hrs per week.
  • Regular lifting of waste containers of up to 25 kg
