This position will be responsible for assisting the technologist at various clinics and medical centers as listed below. Routes are subject to change based on business needs. Our standard work week is five days a week Monday-Friday, even if you aren't scheduled to work all five days. The position does not have a permanent fixed schedule because our route assignments are subject to change at any time. You will be required to work an alternative schedule within the region as needed to provide backup coverage for leaves of absences, vacations, unplanned absences, etc., on unscheduled days. This route currently serves VCU Health Community Hospital in South Hill and VCU Health Tappahannock Hospital. It will eventually expand to include two additional locations: VCU Medical Center – Stony Point and VCU Medical Center – South Park. Locations will vary and rotate on a week-to-week basis. The scheduled workdays and hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Duties and Responsibilities include: Transporting patients between the facility and scanner and completing documentation. Providing operational and administrative support to the technologist. Preparing, cleaning and sanitizing exam areas, changing table linens, patient verification, and helping with patient transfers from and to beds, wheelchairs, and carts. Managing patient exam records, ensures patient comfort, engage in ethical conduct, and make sure work adheres to regulatory requirements. Complying with safety and quality procedures and initiatives by strictly following safety policies, rules and safe work methods, making suggestions to support continuous improvements in safety, promptly correcting or reporting safety hazards or unsafe conditions, promptly reporting injuries for timely diagnoses and medical treatment, and by participating in safety processes such as safety committee, safety inspections, etc. Qualifications High school graduate or GED. Prior healthcare experience strongly preferred; customer service experience desired. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, organizational, accuracy and detail orientation skills. PC proficiency and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Vaccination Requirements The Patient Care Assistant will need to be CPR certified, DMS will assist with this process if not already certified. TB and influenza (if required by the medical facilities) Physical Abilities While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
