Breathe BioMedical (BBM) is a medical technology company focused on developing an accurate breath test to detect early-stage breast cancer in women. Breath analytics involves the collection, processing, and analysis of breath samples to identify biomarker patterns associated with specific diseases. Position Title: Technologist
Location: Moncton, New Brunswick
Term: Permanent; Full-Time
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours/week
Summary: The technologist is responsible for evaluating, testing, calibrating, programming, and repairing prototype products; as well as, operating and servicing BBM’s laser technology platform. Internally this position interacts with all employees and management within BBM. Externally this position interacts with industry organizations consultants, vendors, and a variety of health care professionals.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology or Electronics Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in design and production environment.
- Minimum 2 years work experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts breath sampler assembly and product conformance verification according to established blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
- Records anomalies and deviations in the quality management system/engineering systems.
- Proposes corrective actions for resolutions to manufacturing and quality problems due to processes or equipment.
- Participates in the production and/or project meetings; offering feedback and guidance BBM can use to improve its processes and technology offerings.
- Prepares and maintains written documentation of completed tasks and electromechanical test results.
- Assists in generating engineering and production documentation.
- Consistently follows and complies with defined processes and workflows.
- Contributes design suggestions and ideas into the design process.
- Assists with lab work.
- May carry out maintenance and preventative maintenance in accordance with procedures and diagnoses and repairs faults.
- May train others on proper operational procedures.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Competencies:
- Demonstrates competency in the use of lab tools and debug/analysis instruments.

Special Job Requirements and/or Training:

- Workplace First-Aid training; recertify as per training specifications.
- WHMIS training; recertify as per training specifications.
- This position has roles and responsibilities associated to BBM’s Quality Management System (QMS). Please refer to Appendix B of BBM’s Quality Manual – Quality System – Responsibility Chart. Required training will be provided in accordance to BBM’s Training Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) 6.2-1 Training and Qualification.
