Responsibilities
  • Provide meadow restoration and invasive species management technical support and on project development; plan design; internal, external and public consultations; permit acquisition; work plan development; assistance with budget preparation and cost control and close out under the direction of a Project Manager.
  • Coordinate daily project logistics, including resource scheduling, external contractors, field staff, volunteers and vehicles and equipment. Analyzes data and performs QA/QC ensuring data integrity, troubleshoots issues where they arise for map creation through GIS applications
  • Undertake tracking and scheduling of monitoring activities and logistics, vehicles, equipment and staffing on a daily and monthly basis; ensuring equipment is in a state of good repair.
  • Monitors and maintains equipment to ensure the accuracy and timelines of the data collected.
  • Oversee a team of staff and ensure that team members understand expectations; communicates schedule, tasks and discusses priorities.
  • Communicates with team members to assess the status of work throughout the day/shift; amends work and reassigns staff as needed to direct workflow and accommodate for any situational circumstances.
  • Supports onboarding and provides on the job training and support as needed for individuals they oversee.
  • Supports a culture of workplace equity and inclusion that celebrates diversity.
  • Ensures staff/volunteers/contractors, as applicable, comply with health & safety policies, and other TRCA policies, as applicable in various work environments.
  • Requires the Technologist to work with pesticides and native plant seed collection and installation.
  • Perform peer reviewed and practitioner-based research and benchmarking as well as quality analysis/ control, applying scientific methodologies as necessary.
