Technologist, Histopathology Department: Histopathology – Main Lab Entity: Aga Khan University Hospital Location: Karachi, Pakistan Introduction: The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at The Aga Khan University is a dynamic academic center that serves the diagnostic needs of the country through its extensive clinical laboratory services network across Pakistan. AKUH’s Clinical Laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and provides services through its tertiary care laboratory at the main campus, more than 300 specimen collection units, and multiple Stat and Phlebotomy Centers nationwide. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine comprises five major sections: Chemical Pathology, Hematology & Transfusion Medicine, Histopathology, Microbiology, and Molecular Pathology. Each section is academically driven and actively involved in research, undergraduate and postgraduate education, and training. Responsibilities: You will be responsible to: Perform clinical tests independently according to the procedure manual daily to ensure timely preparation of the final reports. Assist in teaching / training of junior staff. student and trainees according to guidelines provided as and when required. Follow and assist the Assistant Manager/Charge Technologist/Pathologist in the implementation of safety standards according to Laboratory Safety Manual on a regular basis, required for own safety and the safety of the others. Authority co-sign reports of lab tests processed by self. Authority to sign negative reports of lab tests processed by self. Any other duty or responsibility assigned by the Assistant Manager/Charge Technologist Pathologist. Perform routine technical procedures for internal and external quality control as per schedule. Requirements: You should have: BS in Biological Sciences/MSc/MLT preferred. 1 year traineeship at the Clinical Laboratory at AKUH or 2 to 3 years of relevant experience preferably in a laboratory or a hospital. Fresh graduates can also be considered. Good knowledge of Laboratory testing procedures. Ability to immediately follow written and oral instructions. Comprehensive employment reference checks will be conducted.
