Technologist, Histopathology Department Entity: Aga Khan University Hospital Location: Main Aga Khan, Pakistan Introduction: The Aga Khan University Hospital Clinical Laboratories are the first in Pakistan to be accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), which is considered as a gold standard in laboratory testing in the world. Regular Duties / Responsibilities: Perform clinical tests independently according to the procedure manual on a daily basis to ensure timely preparation of the final reports. Assist in teaching / training of junior staff, student and trainees according to guidelines provided as and when required. Follow and assist the Assistant Manager/Charge Technologist/Pathologist in the implementation of safety standards according to Laboratory Safety Manual on a regular basis, required for own safety and the safety of the others. Authority to co-sign reports of lab tests processed by self. Authority to sign negative re_ports of lab tests processed by self. Any other duty or responsibility assigned by the Assistant Manager/Charge Technologist/Pathologist. Confirm by discussing unusual findings found in the specimen currently working on with the senior technologist/charge technologist to avoid anv misleading results going out to the patient. Perform routine technical procedures for internal and external qualitv control as per schedule. Qualifications: B.Sc. (minimum 2nd Division) in Biological Sciences/MSc /MLT preferred. 1 year traineeship at the Clinical Laboratory at AKUH or 2 to 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a laboratory or a hospital. Comprehensive employment reference checks will be conducted.
Responsibilities
The technologist will perform clinical tests independently and assist in the training of junior staff. They will also ensure adherence to safety standards and confirm unusual findings with senior staff.
