Technologist – Phlebotomy Center – South Karachi Entity: Aga Khan University Hospital Location: Karachi, Pakistan Introduction: The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at The Aga Khan University is a dynamic academic center which serves the diagnostic needs of the country through its clinical laboratory services that is spread across Pakistan. AKUH's Clinical Laboratory is College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited and caters to the needs of the entire country through its tertiary lab at the main campus, 300+ specimen collection units and 13 stat labs across Pakistan. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine consists of five major sections namely Chemical Pathology, Hematology and Transfusion Medicine, Histopathology, Microbiology, and Molecular Pathology. Each section is academically driven and is highly engaged in research and undergraduate, postgraduate teaching and training. Responsibilities: You will be responsible to: perform clinical tests independently according to the standard operating procedures and ensure quality of results participate in staff training, according to laboratory guidelines and also participate in educational opportunities assist supervisor in the implementation of the safety standards according to Laboratory Safety Guidelines confirm unusual findings with the senior technologist / Charge Technologist /Pathologist to avoid any misleading results going out to the patients as and when required. Requirements: You should have: a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Masters’ degree will be preferred one year traineeship at the Clinical Laboratory at AKU or two to three years of relevant experience preferably in a laboratory or hospital thorough knowledge of laboratory testing procedures good written and verbal communication skills willingness to work in shifts. Comprehensive employment reference checks will be conducted.
Responsibilities
The technologist is responsible for independently performing clinical tests following standard operating procedures to ensure result quality. This role also involves participating in staff training and assisting the supervisor with implementing safety standards.
