Description

The Communications & Technology Specialist will assist the Economic Development department by contributing to the presence of McKenzie County utilizing social media, digital media, other technology, and print media. This position will also utilize technology to maximize resources and support the work of tourism, business and workforce development. This position reports to the Economic Development Director and is located in Watford City, ND. The schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, as well as occasional time in the evenings/weekends for events. Level and salary commensurate with experience. Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of articles, social media posts, websites and interactions with media that promote McKenzie County as a good place to work, live and visit
  • Coordinate and utilize technology in a way that helps define visitor trends and economic development opportunities
  • Manage and maintain the digital presence of McKenzie County’s amenities, businesses, events and attractions on websites (including but not limited to ndtourism.com, google maps, watfordcityevents.com, econdev.mckenziecounty.net and mobile applications)
  • Photograph and videograph select events and attractions for media needs
  • Maintain video and photo archives in a way that is easy to access and search for future media needs
  • Create media to promote area attractions
  • Assist in the provision of regularly scheduled front-line training to hospitality workers so that they are aware of the amenities of our community that might be of interest to visitors and residents
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of monthly Economic Development e-newsletter and McKenzie County Economy at a Glance
  • Other duties as assigned for business needs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One (1) year administrative support experience preferred
  • Must be able to report to Watford City, ND daily at required schedule time
  • Extensive knowledge of computers, computer programs, scanning equipment and various other office machines
  • Working knowledge of social media
  • Desire to continue to learn new and emerging technologies related to communications and research pertaining to workforce, business and tourism development
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Must be a self-starter and goal oriented
  • Physical requirements and working conditions:
  • Must possess the ability to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, copier, files, telephone and fax; maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone.
