REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent. In addition, requires a professional designation, certification, or other qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • More than 5 years of experience.
  • Experience with rapid eLearning development tools or other applicable emerging learning technologies is considered an asset.
  • Experience with learning management system functionalities and standards is considered an asset.
  • Experience with the roll-out of large scale, enterprise-wide or cross divisional eLearning programs and initiatives is considered an asset.
  • Experience in integration technologies, methods and capabilities considered an asset (e.g., REST, SOAP, API etc.).
  • Experience in database administration/management, design and/or technologies considered an asset (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, and/or Oracle/DB2, relational databases, warehoused databases, etc.).
  • Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

JOB KNOWLEDGE AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of concepts and principles in a specialist field that is typically acquired through a combination of advanced professional or academic qualifications and/or significant work experience.
  • Provide expert advice, guidance and consultation on highly complex issues and/or where the outcome may be contentious.
  • Interaction with others requires highly developed interpersonal skills to effectively persuade, negotiate, counsel, and/or consult.

Responsibilities
  • Researches, develops, and assists in the selection, development, and implementation of instructional innovations, advancements in subject matter education, and learning theory, and consults on the use of information technology and online resources, including synthesizing literature to provide evidence based exemplars or steps to follow.
  • Assists faculty with the transition from lectures to active instructional methods through one-on-one or team meetings to diagnose challenges, formulate revision plans, and manage the implementation through direct or indirect coaching.
  • Provides training to instructors, staff, and teaching assistants on use of educational technology tools.
  • Develops, implements, and/or provides consultation, and support for appropriate teaching methodologies to meet accreditation standards.
  • Develops and/or recommends sessions for course instructors and/or faculty who are looking to improve course design and delivery.
  • Designs and creates learning materials, including electronic modules, cases, quizzes, and other interactive classroom materials.
  • Undertakes and facilitates mapping, assessment, and evaluation of student learning and engagement outcome data.
  • Creates an in-house library of educational resources.
  • Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.
