Description
About us At Westpac New Zealand, our purpose is to Help New Zealanders Succeed. As a Bank and one of New Zealand's leading employers, we are passionate about helping people. We are taking action today to create a better future for the people who bank with us, work with us, invest in us or are part of our broader communities. Mō te tūranga | About the Role The primary outcome of the Technical Delivery Lead (TDL) role is to ensure that the defined scope of work is delivered within the time, cost, and quality parameters agreed. The role focuses on planning, leading, and tracking all delivery activity across the project teams. Project members include WNZL and SAS staff, SMEs, and contractors, located locally and onshore. The scope of work includes application configuration and development, integration, and data migration across multiple non-prod and production environments; enabled by stakeholder engagement, process and operating changes, business change and training. Ability to successfully deliver complex and heavily inter-dependent project activity is a key outcome for this role. A ‘hybrid’ delivery method is adopted. Business Outcomes – ensure the business objectives and outcomes are clearly and consistently articulated and communicated to all project stakeholders, team members, and impacted parties. Ensure these remain top of mind for the project team. Planning – working closely with SAS Project Managers (PMs) to maintain and update the High-Level Plans, Milestones, Epics, and the detailed Project Schedule on a weekly basis. Ensure all project members and key stakeholders understand the plan and any key changes agreed. Stakeholder Management – ensure effective comms and engagement with key stakeholders and ensure they are formally and informally updated regularly regarding project status and health. Build and maintain close, open and honest relationships throughout. Resource Management – ensure the project team is fully resourced and that any unforeseen resource gaps are quickly identified. Manage the WNZL processes and approvals required to secure any additional resources required. Leading Delivery – working closely with the WNZL Scrum Master and SAS PMs to ensure daily and weekly priorities are defined, visible, and being effectively delivered to the agreed timelines. Ensure any blockers are quickly identified and resolved, or where appropriate, quickly escalated. Tracking Progress – ensure close attention to tracking progress against the Plans and ensure any forecast deviations or issues are identified as early as possible. Ensure remediation or workaround activities are implemented to ensure down-stream impacts are minimised. WNZL Reporting – manage reporting updates to the project Working Group, and input into Steering Committee and other WNZL Governance forums. Provide ad-hoc reporting and updates as required. Forecasting – maintain the project resource and financial budget/forecast; update this monthly in line with the WNZL financial management processes and tools. Scope Management – ensure close management of the agreed scope and manage a tight change control process over any proposed changes. Ensure all changes are effectively impact assessed before being presented for consideration. Controls Management – lead effective risk, issues, and decision management processes. Provide coaching and support to the assigned owners of issues and risks and facilitate the development and execution of effective resolution / mitigation strategies. Ways of working – continually review the delivery method, structure, and roles. With the Scrum Master, facilitate regular reviews and retros to identify key learnings and areas for improvement or change. Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring? 6 + years’ experience in delivering complex technology and business change projects, ideally in banking, financial services, or similar environments. Proven and demonstrable track record in successful project delivery over several years in highly accountable project management roles. Significant experience in building and managing cross functional project teams, including permanent and contractor staff, software vendors, and SMEs. Very strong people management and communications skills. Exposure to banking environments preferred, previous experience in credit risk management would be ideal. Proven ability to work within a hybrid waterfall / agile delivery methodology. ‘Hands on’, able to work at the coalface, be directly and personally responsible to lead this project to a successful outcome. Our culture is rich with stories of how our people like to help, our customers, our community and each other. This is reflected through flexible working arrangements to ensure that our people have a balance in their life with those things that are important to them. Through ensuring that we provide opportunities to everyone regardless of what society throws at them, we are a safe place to work where you are treated equally and appreciated.
