Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the mighty Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants, and contracted wind and solar energy. ABOUT YOU:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Technology System Administrator with the following qualifications and skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT Operations, System Administration, or similar technical roles.
  • Proven experience in operating and managing VMware ESX clusters.
  • Demonstrated expertise with distributed storage systems and enterprise storage arrays.
  • Strong technical understanding of cloud hosting technologies, particularly AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of ITIL or similar IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) frameworks, especially the Essential Eight.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative in improving system performance, automation, and security posture.
  • Experience working within highly regulated or critical infrastructure environments.
Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, maintain, and decommission physical and virtual servers.
  • Perform regular updates, upgrades, and patching of server hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Manage resource allocation across virtual and cloud-hosted environments.
  • Provide advanced (2nd and 3rd level) support for server and system administration incidents and service requests.
  • Support and maintain a variety of server operating systems, including Windows Server and Linux variants.
  • Administer containerised environments and support infrastructure performance monitoring and response.
  • Execute domain administration tasks including DNS, DHCP, LDAP authentication, and directory services.
  • Implement and maintain system patching and configuration in alignment with ACSC Essential Eight security standards.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of server environments, cloud networks, and endpoint devices.
  • Administer and support federated authentication systems such as Active Directory, SSO, and cloud directories.
  • Manage access controls including secure server access points and Just-In-Time (JIT) access solutions.
