Description

We are looking for a dynamic and relationship-driven Account Manager to grow and support our network of accredited education and training providers across the UK. This is a pivotal, customer-facing role responsible for managing an assigned portfolio of 20 existing customers, including universities and learning providers, while also driving new business development.
You will be given a portfolio of 20 existing clients and will be expected to grow and deepen these relationships by becoming a critical business partner going above and beyond to deliver outstanding service and unlock new opportunities for collaboration. At the same time, you will focus on identifying and securing new customers to expand our network and impact.
In this role, you will manage and nurture relationships with education and training providers, promote and sell Tech Industry Gold accreditation, and support growth into new areas such as bootcamps and CPD opportunities. You will also contribute to the development and delivery of our wider customer engagement strategy, ensuring we remain responsive, innovative, and impactful in everything we do.
The successful candidate will be passionate about education and skills development, commercially savvy, and relationship-oriented. Strong communication skills and a proactive, service-first approach are essential.
You will work closely with all members of the TechSkills team including the CEO and play a key role in helping shape the future of the tech skills ecosystem in the UK.
TechSkills is a not-for-profit organisation which brings together employers and educators to develop the digital talent industry needs. Our work includes the accreditation of training which meets industry priority needs, delivering innovative support services for learning providers, and issuing digital credentials (online badges) confirming the skills of those successfully completing accredited programmes. Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with universities, colleges, bootcamps, and private training providers
  • Promote and sell Tech Industry Gold accreditation across apprenticeship programmes (Level 3–7), degrees, and private sector training
  • Manage a personal portfolio of around 20 education and training providers, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and engagement
  • Support partners through the onboarding, accreditation, and renewal process with a customer-first approach
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, especially in growth areas such as bootcamps and continuing professional development (CPD) programmes
  • Upsell and cross-sell additional accreditations and services to existing partners
  • Act as a trusted advisor to partners, understanding their strategic objectives and aligning TechSkills’ offering accordingly
  • Represent TechSkills at meetings, events, and conferences across the UK
  • Collaborate with internal teams (product, marketing, operations) to ensure partner needs are met efficiently and effectively
  • Maintain accurate records in the CRM system and support impact reporting and metrics

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

To be successful in this role, candidates should demonstrate the following experience:

  • Proven track record in account management, client success, or business development in a B2B, education, or training environment
  • Experience managing and growing a portfolio of clients, with measurable success in client retention and revenue growth
  • Demonstrable experience of developing new business, including prospecting, pitching, and closing deals
  • Familiarity with the education and training sector, particularly higher education, vocational training, or professional development (desirable)
  • Experience working cross-functionally with internal teams (e.g. marketing, product, academic leadership) to deliver cohesive client solutions
  • Comfortable using CRM systems and digital tools to manage workflows, track engagement, and generate reports
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience with proposals, presentations, and stakeholder communications

Desired Knowledge and Experience

  • Existing relationships within the UK higher education or vocational training sectors, particularly with universities, colleges, or independent training providers
  • Previous experience working with or promoting education accreditations, frameworks, or quality assurance schemes
  • Experience in launching or scaling new products or services in the education or skills development space
  • Familiarity with government-funded skills programmes such as bootcamps, apprenticeships, or CPD initiatives

Additional Information
This is a full-time role and home based. You can be based anywhere in the UK, with occasional travel across the UK.
This role profile is a guide to the work that is required but does not form part of any contract of employment and may change from time to time to reflect changing circumstances.
The successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK prior to the commencement of employment.
The salary range for this role is £38,000-£45,000 per annum based upon experience plus commission and comprehensive benefits.
