Job Description TED's Publishing & Social team is looking for a detail-oriented Publishing assistant with a sharp eye, boundless curiosity and an attitude of getting things done to assist in the day-to-day publishing of TED Talks and other editorial content. This is a great role if you're: incredibly detail-oriented; comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment; and passionate about TED's mission of spreading ideas. This is a six-month temporary position. Responsibilities include: Write headlines and descriptive copy for TED Talks, original series, podcasts and other content Publish TED Talks as well as other video and written content using internal publishing tools Work with speakers and their teams ahead of their publish dates to prepare them for their talk’s release, helping to bring their ideas to life online and creating maximum impact Collect, edit and publish annotations and other extra resources from speakers, including footnotes on research as well as new books, works and papers that expand on speakers’ research Write and edit live event recaps from conferences Write and edit conference promotional materials, including official speaker profiles and copy for apps used at live events Edit articles about talks, initiative launches and other organizational priorities for the TED Blog Project manage subtitle process for Featured talks, including assigning review work to freelancers and approving final English transcripts Qualifications Required: 1-2 years of professional writing and editorial experience, or an equivalent degree Ability to pass a transcription and a writing test Comfort with digital content management and publishing software, like Airtable and WordPress, and the ability and desire to learn new software Useful: Near-native fluency in a second language other than English, especially: Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese Simplified, French, Italian, Russian, Spanish Photoshop or similar image-editing software experience News reporting experience Subtitling experience Additional Information Hourly Rate $25.00 TED Conferences LLC is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
